I have a red 1976 2002 with a bunch of extras that I have owned for about 5-6 years and I am considering selling it- it is definitely drivable as-is...
-Paint, carpet, trim is ok- not good, not bad.
-Engine runs well- it was a low-mileage factory rebuild I purchased off of EBay a few years ago. It has a weber 32/36 installed that runs good, but could use a re-jetting. Currently runs with mechanical points in the distributor, but I have partially installed a crane electronic ignition. I replaced the orginial starter with an E30 M3 starter. Trans is fine. Exhaust consists of headers and large diameter pipe and muffler, all welded together.
-Body is in very good condition with no rust. Front clip was replaced before I bought the car. The fenders and hood need to be lined up a little.
Trunk is in great condition- spare tire well was replaced with a piece of flat sheet metal. I replaced some taillight parts/gaskets and they look very good too. Driver's door brake needs replacement, trunk lock does not lock with key but closes/opens fine. I rebuilt the pedal box by sandblasting it, replacing worn parts, and spraying it with rubber undercoating. The plastic gas pedal is not attached but I have driven it for years using the metal pedal lever only.
-Front seats are older black cloth Recaro sport seats... i think they may be out of an 80's volkswagen. They are in great condition but the driver's outside bolster cloth is mostly missing. Rear seat is original and good condition black vinyl, but the top edge near rear window is starting to crack. Beige carpet is ok but should be replaced.
-Steering wheel is a very nice Momo- dash is in very good condition except for a small crack. I have installed a Z3 center console from the shifter to the dash. I cut off the portion from the e-brake back and patched the hole. I am very proud of it! : ) It is the non-M Z3 console with extra gauge holes and switch locations- all are unused right now. I installed the round hazard light button where the Z3 cigarette lighter went. There is no radio in the car (Z3 console takes standard DIN radio) but there are a few speakers installed from the previous owner.
Sway bars are aftermarket (from previous owner), front brakes are girling/320i vented rotor mod. I replaced the front tie rods and readjusted the steering gear box. The car steers very tight! Rear brakes need to be done- I believe one wheel cyl. is blown. I have never touched the struts but I think they need to be done. Battery has been relocated to front center of trunk with large lever-type disconnect.
Extras:
-original motor (disassembled- needs rebuild)
-differential (limited slip, looks almost new, can't recall ratio)
-extra steering gearbox (have to check and see if it is high-ratio)
-numerous good engine parts (valve covers, timing covers, heads, distributors, Schrick 292 cam)
-new exhaust (stahl header/02 turbo resonator/needs muffler and fab work done)
-original steel wheels (need refinishing, 2 rusted)
-13" turbine wheel set in good condition
-14" bottlecap wheel set in good condition
-fiberglass 02 turbo front air dam, primered and sprayed black. (uninstalled)
-original console/condensor unit
-circular LED-style fuel/air meter (uninstalled)
All of this is off the top of my head, so I know I am missing some stuff...
$4000 fairly firm... I'm not too desperate to sell at the moment but email me if you'd like to find out more...
