Subject: Login Problems

Steve and Rob--

All of a sudden I can't seem to log in from my home computer. It's been working fine (and works when I log in from work) but not from home any more. When I posted this morning on the general discussion board (subject was "last drive of the season") even tho I had logged in twice before, it came out as guest.

Whazzup?

Mike

logged in three times and they didn't take. I can post in other than guest mode by adding a backslash after mike, but I'm still not logged in according to the listing of who's logged in on the index page...

It was working fine up until a week or so ago...

cheers
mike

bottom of the forum index page, but when I go to post a message or reply, my login disappears and the username box (see above ) appears. I have to fill in "mike/" to be able to post (other than as a guest); if I use "mike" I get the "this username is already in use."

This gets stranger and stranger...thanks for your help Steve

Mike,

have you installed any new software on your computer recently. it looks to me a bit like you are blocking cookies. Zone Labs?

as a computer guy, I'm pretty good with 2002s....

And BTW, I notice that when I log in from home and start to type "mike" in the username box, it doesn't complete it for me as it does when I log in from work...

mike

(note that I logged in just fine from work, firewalls and all!)

The autocomplete is a functionality of the browser. If you are using Internet Explorer, go to Tools --> Internet Options --> Privacy. If the setting there is above Medium, try lowering it and login again. If that works, then click on the Sites button in the Privacy tab and ad www.bmw2002faq.com as a trusted site.

Most external firewalls do not block cookies, b ut the ones that are installed on computers themselved do occasionally cause havac.

Since you are on AOL at home it could be something specific to AOL only thats going on. Its kind of hard to replicate those kinds of problems w/out having AOL.

Any other AOL users having similar problems?

Sounds like it could be an AOL function that is trying to be 'helpful' --

best of luck!
