Subject: My stinky cat

Dang it -- my cat Gyoza got in a fight with a civet cat (Spilogale gracilis, not the SARS kind) and now she's stinking up the place.

Any tips for getting skunk stink off a cat? Washing in a vat of tomato juice is kind of out of the question, unless I got some heavy duty leathers

Smelly cat, smelly cat...

Enzymes are your friend.
I would go to the local pet store(petco, petsmart) and see what they have.
The tomato juice bath could work, just wear welding gloves.

hmm. haven't seen the mythbusters where they test that one.

I gave her some vinegar wipedowns -- just poured some on paper tissue & that seamed to cut the stink down.

I don't think she got bit. IT was more of a YOWL and SPRAY kind of deal.. didn't last very long -- after the skunk did its biz. I think they both just surprised each other and stink was the result

cheers -- Gyoza isn't smelling that bad today -- or more likely i'm getting used to it.

10% of the population doesn't find the skunk smell offensive (some genetic thing) unfortunately you are not one of them.

we got this stuff at PetSmart specifically for skunks. It worked to get about 70% of the smell out, but I don't think there is a thing on the planet that will get it out 100%. 10 days later, and he still smells a little.

Cute cat, too big he stinks! Friend of mine has 3 Ferrets. Their cage was sprayed by a skunk, and the poor little buggers got it pretty bad. Funny thing though, I think it actually made them smell better!
