Subject: strange problem with a floor jack

I have a big floor jack, i use it to work on my 02, i can raise the car and go to the limit of the jack so it is full of oil.

I cant raise my e36, the jack barely raise it and then the pump feels like it cant handle the extra weight...it goes then pffffff, pfffff like if it pump air.

valve problem?? wrong oil????
I think it is a 5 ton jack...maybe 10 years old.

thanks.

probably blown seals. might be the end to your jack. Costco has a couple aluminum jacks. Just bought mine. 1.5 ton with jack stands and creaper for $99. So far it's nice.

I remember they gave an extra set of o-ring/seal, if i could find them, i guess its wise to spend few minutes to change them and see...if not i will go with the aluminium one for sure, way lighter !!!
