A friend is selling a very original, rust-free, 2-owner car this week. I've seen and driven it, and it's a gem. The paint is shiny and original, with only a couple of minor dents. Item 4585964459 on eBay:

Why?

When I bought my '02, the owner just released the liability (IE Signed the pink slip) and I paid the tax, registration, and transfer fee straight to the DMV when I went to register it.

Why do you need to collect a "DMV Document fee"? What the hell is that? And the smog fee? If the car was already smogged this year, why would you be charging for that service? It like getting a brake job and then billing the buyer, after the sale.

Can you explain the "fees" to me.
