Does anyone know how much power you can run thru an 02 rear end. I have several Rover aluminum v-8's and toyed with the idea of putting one into an 02. In basic trim they produce about 200HP and 225 ft-lbs of torque all in a package that weighs 300lbs.

but those v8s can produce a lot more than that, and i dont see how you could resist the temptation :) but who knows what it could really handle. _________________ -Marty
Pat allen is close to 275hp I think with his turbo M10. I also have a brace of 215's in my garage (one built, one core) and I think it would be a great Idea!
I have considered a V8 swap, but there a few things to think about. You would probably have to convert to Rack & pinion steering to give room for a header on the drivers side. I think the oil pan will also need modification to clear the subframe.
If you can handle this, find a nice 74-76 '02 and have at it!! _________________ **Formerly known a Cam_A**

I did a conversion on a TVR Tasmin 280i once. I had to run the headers to the front of the engine and then down in order to clear the steering. I'm not looking for all out speed just a cool driver with a back seat for my kids. I all ready own a Triumph TR8 race car and a 74 02 race car. An oil pan would be an easy fabrication. There sure looks like there is plenty of room in the engine bay.

I thought this would be cool too. Keep as updated.

IIRC, Rover engines could only turn about 4500 rpms because of the aluminum blocks. Maybe they have been updated or improved. _________________ '73 2002 "Gretta"
