As the board changes order all the time its harder to locate posts. I've never liked that about other forums as "popular posts" are not usually the most interesting ones to me and the interesting stuff is harder to find.

The behavior in threaded view is the same as on the old board (chronological according to topic starter). In the flat view, they do bump, but I think that's desirable since all the new stuff (since your last login, ostensibly) is near the top.

Other boards have so much stupid "OOOhh what color tires should I buy" type posts jumping to the top that it's hard to get to the meaningful posts, like OOOh what color should I paint my Inca 2002.

perhaps due to new info in the subject line?

I see that now... I'll add that to my list. If the preferred behavior is like the old board, that's definitely doable.

i like it better, the threads that are most active stay close to the top....
i hate the boards where highly active threads fall from view because of not so active threads

save those that are important to you, they're easily found from a bookmark, regardless of where they are or how old

This kind of thing is easily put to a vote!
I do think we should try it with the bumping for a few days so we can all make an informed choice, but I don't feel strongly about it either way.

Hate to start off with a whine-ee post, but I was really hoping the order of the topics in threaded view could be selected with newest TOPIC at the top (like the "old" forum).
My fear is that when each new REPLY bumps its TOPIC to the top, you can create those 'threads that will not die' which gets tiresome.
I don't want to have to page down thru a bunch of old long threads to see new topics, just because the older threads got a bump up.
Can we have an option for "fixed" view with newest TOPICS remaining at the top ?? Please?
Sorry for the big bold red font, had to experiment a little with the new tricks

Just couldn't help it... I am honestly trying to get used to it but I am finding that I have to sift thru a bunch of threads that I have already read in order to find the new stuff on the 3rd page.

in the "OLD" board, if you posted to a thread that had fallen off the page, your post would be the 1st post on the site. People would then have to click on the "go to top of thread" to figure out what you were posting about.
As for bumping threads, yeah there is the thread of a 'thread that won't die', but I thought the 2002 owner was more intelectually mature than the BimmerFest forums poster. I could be wrong though.
However, I like the bumping threads thing because if someone has something new and meaningful to add to that thread. Why should that be hidden?
Yes, again, we're more into keeping our cars running and not: "What color is your car" posts.
