Sports are valved differently for the 2002. The specs were just posted on the board this week. If you need to speak with someone who knows someting about these cars, maybe try one of the 2002 specialty shops and pay a few $$ more.

i run a j stock e30 as a daily driver and its fine. my buddy has the clone car of mine and he complains and wont drive it except on the track. its what youre willing to put up with. maybe im more tolerant. my 02 will run h&r's,sports and all factory rubber.

I wonder what is wrong with original Boge shocks? I think Germans designed the car for performance and daily with the use of Boge shocks and I think they did it well. I have Blisten shocks and I regret it because it is too stiff for everyday drive, in my opinion. I use the car daily to and from work in ties and dress shirts. I at times was not in mood for stiff and bumpy rides, but it is just my opinion.

Is it street legal to have "French" yellow lights? Also where did you get
your additional driving lights? I would like to pick some up...also how

Have the Boge now, kinda mushy..

From the ruttiest rally road to the interstate and the only time it really feels stiff is after driving my old benz.

The boge gas replacement have been sort lived in my experience.

I drive an E30 everyday with Bilstein Sports and Eibach springs. I'm 47 and have Polymyalgia Ruematica (It makes you hurt all-over) and I'm fine with the setup. Nick's 02 has the same setup and is a little more harsh of a ride, but it's not bad.

I prefer HDs but I'm an old fart with a lot of hard miles.

Stock rubber bushings will ease the ride a bit. Once you get into urethane, the ride tightens up a lot. All personal preference though.

22/19's, poly, ST's. Nice firm set-up. Handle very well. I got Kormans Roadsport package for both cars. www.kormanfastbmw.com for a write-up on different packages. I've never driven sports so cannot compare.

FWIW, here's what I "just went through" with Hugo...I have H&R's with Bilstein Sports. I was petrified that the car would ride too stiff!!! Well, it's firm, but just fine, and I'm an old fart with a boney rearend!

Hugo even has 22/19mm anti-sways (already on the car when I found it).....I know for a fact that the Sports are "shorter" than the Heavy Duties "&" about 20% "stiffer"...you can have them re-valved by Bilstein for a nominal charge if the ride is too stiff.

I really don't understand why some guys put HD's with the shorter springs...I suppose on an '02 they don't bottom out because of the travel, but I was always told to go with the shorter shocks with the lowered springs.

I guess HD would be a bit softer as well, but I'm really happy with the setup I have so far.

the french yellow lights are really LUCAS
plastic headlight covers for folks driving their cars
from England to France and conforming to french road rules. They are hated by Connecticut cops.
I install them with double-sided sticky tape to protect my expensive CIBIE' lights while PORSCHE's and M3's toss rocks at me on track. The fog lights are just common HELLA 500 fogs available at lots-0-places.

The dampening rate between the Sports and HD's are now the same. The main diffrence is piston lenth. The sports are shorter to accomodate sport lowering springs. This info is from Bilstein.
