Does anyone know how to tell? I need to get new front pads and rotors and there is a split for the pads. I need to know which ones to buy but cant figure out the production date of my 1969 2002 VIN 1668997.
Thanks again. (the fog has lifted!)

going to each caliper. I think they are dual piston. This should be the newer caliper correct?
Thanks for the advice!

designs in early calendar 1969 production, the primary split should actually come at the end of December 1969 @ chassis # 1664760 - that's the division point between what is sometimes referred to as "series I" and "series II" production within the 1969 model year.
Series I cars had painted grill slats, long neck diffs, sliding center drive shafts, and single circuit/2 piston front calipers and were built before 12/31/68; series II cars had all the later stuff and were built after 1/1/69.

and uses four piston calipers. The VIN break between two and four piston calipers is 1664761 (give or take a few #s). I've never been able to figure out why most parts books show different pads before and after 3-69. My 69 and 73 use identical brake pads. However, the two piston calipers use different pads from the four piston ones.

split between early and late model year 1969 cars should come at chassis # 1664760 - the two versions are sometimes refered to series I (early) and series II (late).
Series I cars were built up to 12/31/68 and had 2 pot single circuit front brakes, painted grill slats, long neck diff's and sliding center driveshafts; Series II cars were built after 1/1/69 and had all the later stuff.
