| smear the tap in some good heavy bearing grease before running it through, this will catch the chips so you dont have to remove the head |

| its also more important that the cam bores are straight rather than the deck surface, often times the warp can be different from top to bottom |

well that piece is actually the end of the crankshaft so you could swap the cranks but if i'm not mistaken there is a needle bearing pilot needed instead of the ball bearing
