I left a short length of hose attached to the fitting on the tank and stuck a bolt in it with a hose clamp. Just leave the steel line under the car.

When the turn signal is raised or lowered with the car off, the parking light/tail light on that side light up.

More trivia, the turn signals in my 00 740i operate the same way.
