Actually the tach needle is white but it had a second orange needle that was an adjustable redline marker. How cool is that? Only one I have ever seen...

I contacted the guy I sold the car to in 1982 and he had some pictures of the gauges. I appears the third gauge is definitely an ammeter.

He sent me the pictures in a pdf so I can't post them here ...

I owned a 1970 2002 Alpina back in 1976. I recall the gauges were oil pressure, oil temperature, and an ammeter or voltmeter. Definitely not a clock.

Have you sent the discs back to Alcon and asked them for advice?

They can probably give you some idea why the cracking is happening.

I used the stock slave cylinder and clutch release mechanism with my Tilton clutch until I installed the Quaife gearbox.

My recollection is I used a different t/o bearing from another model BMW.

Don't forget to check the heater hose coming off the back of the head for your coolant leak before you pull the tranny.
