New paint, tires, wiring, etc etc. the list goes on and on but it is fun to ride.

I'm assuming you have removed the cap that screws down on the top of the strut to hold the insert in. It's not uncommon for the inserts to get stuck in
the strut housing. You will probably need to do ...

it sounds like the nut to tighten the eccentric is stripped and not
tightening down. I've had this happen before. See if you can remove
the nut and bolt for the eccentric. If the nut will not back ...
