I switched from a vac advance dist. to the mech advance dist on my 75, the pertronix unit which was the 1847 swapped over with no problem.

I totally agree....the 02 FAQ is the cleanest, most efficiently designed board I've ever come across.

your using "63 6v" bulbs? does not the "6v" portion indicate a 6 volt bulb? don't you have a 12 volt system? 6 volt bulb in 12 volt system no good, burn very bright, no lasty very long.....:)

did you try disconecting the linkage from the motor to see if it moves freely? If they are not lubed well they can bind up after not being used for awhile.

A little distributor wobble can allow the rotor to hit the cap contacts.
A bit of a reach but a posibility...
