1) can i remove the fuel sending unit (in gas tank) and replace it, without draining the gas or taking the tank out? ...

k thanks for the answers so far. the reason why i had it at the transmission shop was because i needed a new clutch and a bunch of other stuff:

sachs clutch kit
throwout bearing
5th gear bearing ...

but you dont need to run any new wires or anything? for example if you put in a s54 in an 36, you need a new harness. the m20 wiring is compatible with the current wiring in our 02s?
