for $1000 you can compleatly replace shocks, sway bars, springs, and maybe bushings. By far the best way to improve sport feel is to upgrade suspension/steeering.

Your tires may be too wide??.....

I have run 185/60/14 and 195/60/14 on bottle cap wheels without any rubbing, with the car lowered, front and back.

Watch the BravAuto springs (B&G, Germany) they lower around 1.75". I think I would have liked around .5" less.

I paid $3500 for a 75 2002 with almost no issues. Minimal rust, is the most important thing.
