If they are not the brake lines, they are tubes for the e-brake cables. A nick in one is probably not a big deal.

Your readings and connections are correct. The connection at the base of the carb is ported, meaning that it sees vacuum based on the position of the throttle plates and the one on the intake manifold ...

In theory, you don't even need a fuel pump relay. You could wire it directly to the key and have it on all the time. When I first ran my car that is the way it ran, then I added the fuel pump relay. A ...

The '84 and '85 318i had two pumps, one in the tank and one above the rear axle. The one in the tank is the volume pump which supplies fuel to the pressure pump under the car. Both are needed, althoug ...

You might look at using the 318i manifold ('84-'85) instead. It looks the same as the '80-'83 320i manifold but already has holes in it for injectors. The 320i which used the manifold that you are thi ...

There should be one on the bottom of the trans as well. That would be the drain. The one on the side is the fill plug.

Actually the engine should run very well, just a bit rich without an o2 sensor. I ran mine like that for quite a while before I figured out that I needed a 3-wire o2 not the 1-wire version. When you i ...

If you can use the 318 distributor, it would be best. You can also use a 002 or 008 as they are close in the advance curve. A stock carb distributor from an 02 is way off on the advance curve for what ...

Race cars generally run that way, with the vents plumbed into catch cans, so no oil or coolant gets on the track.

It is easy to do, however, if you have to pass local laws, you may not be legal.
