I need a new fuel pump because the one I have now is leaking at the seams.

I'm a little confused. Can I just pull a fuel pump out of a mid 80's and have it be a bolt on fix?
I'd rather not go the electrical route seeing as I'd have no idea what I was doing. |

I just called my local BMW, detailing my problems, and was told that since the pump was leaking gas, I'd need a whole new fuel pump.
Is that right? |
