Basic msd coil (blaster 3) . 40.000 V +. Low internal resistance. Use with a ballast resistor supplied if run with points.

yep, there's something wrong with the washer pump relay (round thing). Check if the wires are hooked up correctly and use that voltmeter to see if any unwanted wires are hot.

I have noticed that both gaskets (rear and front glass) are missing the chrome piping strips. Are they for beautification only? Or they help with locking the glass in place?

Just get a Miller. They are very good welders that depreciate very little over time. You can always resell the thing later if there is no use for it.

Those are OK for the job you are describing. I have used a Miller 150 myself, and those can be had for $500 used and resold for the same dollars faster than the clarkes.
