Themis 54 Posted July 22, 2014 Hi - Nice work. Looking at the photo of the front subframe, can you verify that the domed washers for that contact the rubber bushings at the ends of the swaybar are put on correctly? I think (but I'm NOT sure) that the go the other way (i.e. concave side away from the bushing, not towards it) Link to comment
Markster 416 Posted July 22, 2014 Hi Themis - I think they are correct based on my homework. You can see here this one has the third one from left correct but not the rest. Thanks for checking. What does the rest of the community thing? http://www.bmw2002faq.com/topic/74863-installing-sway-bar-bushings/ Link to comment
Themis 54 Posted July 23, 2014 Markster, That's interesting. When I disassembled my subframe, the washers were the other way (i.e. not cupping the bushings). It looked exactly like what's shown in this blog (http://www.cyclopticgaze.com/2002/14front_swaybar.html). The spare parts drawings (at realoem.com) seem to show this way, too. However, looking at my2002tii.com, the washers are the way you have them in yours. I have the factory manual at home, which is the ultimate authority, and I'll check for photos there. Link to comment
Markster 416 Posted July 23, 2014 hummm - maybe they are backwards. See this: http://bmwfans.info/parts-catalog/114-Sedan/USA/2002-M10/oct1969/browse/front_axle/stabilizer/ Link to comment
Markster 416 Posted August 6, 2014 Does anyone know the answer to this? I am assembling soon and would like the word on which way to put the washers on the sway bar. Link to comment
